As Tax Director at Encore Partners LLP, Jia leads complex tax advisory services, working closely with our Managing Partner while mentoring and training our Tax Team.
Jia began her tax career at Encore Partners LLP as a tax intern in 2018 while pursuing her Master of Professional Accountancy at UC Irvine. She then transitioned to a full-time role as a Tax Staff, steadily advancing to Tax Senior. Seeking broader experience, Jia joined Deloitte’s San Francisco Private Wealth team, where she worked with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, trusts, investment partnerships, and closely held entities including clients such as the Murdoch Family Trust and the Hyatt Hotel Family Office. She later pivoted to corporate tax, specializing in tax provision, with clients such as Instacart, Robert Half, GroundTruth, Lyft, Peet’s Coffee, PG&E, and 8×8 Inc., primarily in the high-tech sector.
In 2023, Jia joined Instacart’s direct tax team to support its IPO, becoming the first mid-senior level hire on the team. She played a key role in bringing the tax provision function in-house from Deloitte, managing the transition from private to public company status, streamlining close timelines, and training multiple team members throughout the process.
Encore is thrilled to welcome Jia back to our team, where she continues to bring her extensive expertise and leadership.
Jia holds a Master of Professional Accountancy from UC Irvine and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She is a licensed CPA in California, Washington, and British Columbia, Canada.
Outside of work, Jia enjoys attending workout classes, particularly yoga and Pilates. On quieter days, she loves being a homebody, unwinding with a good Netflix reality show or a great movie. She also cherishes time with her husband and their dog, Roxy, and enjoys exploring new places.
